For our most recent photoshoot we were delighted to bring some incredible women to the fore and showcase real customers wearing our designs. We were heartened and inspired by the response and we'll be forever grateful for the incredible ladies who put themselves forward. It was a day we'll treasure forever and we thought it was only right our readers get the chance to get to know our marvellous models too!
Tell us a little about yourself!
I am a Jamaican, a mother of 3 gorgeous boys and married to a wonderful Irish man. I moved to Ireland over three years ago, and as much as I miss the sunshine and my family back home, I love the beauty of Ireland, and the warmth of the Irish people makes up for the weather. I am a happy person; I love to laugh and love making others laugh too. I enjoy reading and recently have taken up golf as a hobby and have been liking every bit of it so far.
What were the attitudes towards fashion in your house growing up?
Back home in Jamaica, I always loved fashion. Growing up, I used to follow all the trends and loved dressing up even if I was going over to the neighbour's house. My mother was my go-to person when it came to a final decision on what to wear to a party. She has such a great sense of style.
What shape has your life has taken now and how you dress to facilitate it?
I studied IT, but my career took a different path. I ended up in Operations and loved it. My last role as an Operations Director for a company back home in Jamaica meant that I had to be hands-on in the day to day activities. I had to dress comfortably, cause I could be on my feet for hours, but that did not stop me from ensuring that my hair, nails, make-up, and clothes were fabulous. Currently, I am a stay at home mom, but I still make sure that I look and feel my best.
How would you define your personal style?
The older I got, the less I started to follow fashion trends. My style now suits more of my personality. You can describe me as a casual-chic style kind of girl. But I also love wearing colours that make me happy, like red, yellow, blue ( I love cobalt blue).
What’s your go-to piece of clothing when you want to feel amazing?
My go-to piece when I want to feel extra fabulous is a jacket. A nice Jacket can make any outfit look amazing.
Who’s your role model?
My role model today is Michelle Obama. She is such a great inspiration! And she always looks fabulous.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
My parents have always taught me never to judge the lives of others. This lesson has allowed me to be more open and understanding of other people's feelings.
What does Heidi Higgins mean to you?
Heidi Higgins is an exact representation of Irish women. Strong, independent and beautiful. I love that she uses colours, and she incorporates them beautifully into her designs. When you wear one of her pieces, you are guaranteed to get a compliment as her style is different from everyone else's.
